The Days Get Shorter With Summer

I don't know if anyone else notices that, but how short do the days feel when Summer is around?  New York is a walking city, which means that one of the best ways to get around is to walk and see all the sights.  Most big cities are like this because they have so much to offer, or they have many diverse neighborhoods.  Walking around you see the little kids out getting into shenanigans, there are the girls wearing outfits that are best reserved for the bedroom.  I mean seriously, how short is that skirt?  I only ask because I care about your panties.  And then there are the guys that remind me that I hit the gym about 3 months too late.  And I need more tattoos so I can be badass!

So this is it, all this walking around.  The picnics, good times out with friends, staying out late, the random adventures you have you're walking around and taking time for the journey.  That's what Summer is, that's why the days are so short.  It's all about the journey, we have places we're going, but no real destinations.  Kids might be going to the park but get sidetracked by an evil ninja army that they end up battling in the streets.  As adults, a trip to a bar often times turns into a pub crawl.  Why?  Because fuck you I'm an adult.  And that's why we have baby sitters and friends who owe us a favor to watch kids we don't even actually have.  Even a romantic out, say a picnic with a view or a restaurant.  During Summer you walk before and after the meal.  You let your feet lead you wherever they want to go.  Yeah yeah, part of it is the weather.  The other part is also the weather.  But I know that there is some small part, some unweather related part, that is the mystique of Summer.  Even chores outdoors feel good, power washing you house, planting an herb garden, or some home improvement project, they all feel good while you work on them.  The projects, not people.  I think I'm losing my string of consciousness, so lets move on to the next part.
